Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
- 1T oil
- 4 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped
- 1/2 red pepper, chopped
- 1 stick celery, chopped
- 1 pkg yves ground round (Mexican)
- 1T chili powder (I used about 3/4T)
- 3/4c beer (darker is better), room temperature
- 1/2c tomato "stuff" (I used tomato paste and water. Tomato sauce will also work)
- 1T soy sauce
- green onions (to taste)
- chili flakes (to taste)
- salt and pepper (to taste)
Directions
- Heat oil in a pot on medium-high and cook garlic, onion, peppers and celery for about 5 minutes, or until onions are translucent.
- Add in ground round and chili powder and mix well. Cook until it becomes fragrant.
- Add in the beer, tomato stuff, soy sauce and chili flakes. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until desired thickness.
- Mix in green onions, season with salf and pepper, and serve warm on top of a toasted bun.
