This overblown zine, if not punk novel, is written by Robnoxious. The Fall of America tells the story of Dug, a punk kid thrown into adulthood when fathering a child, battling the depression of the sick world in which we live, and, in the end, lives through America turning into a full on police state. Caricatural punks (patches, dreads, spikes, etc) get criticised for their apathy and their ineffectiveness in being agents of social change and of revolution, congealing some opinions I have had for a while but hadn't put down in writing, and which will probably sound true to most readers. A lot of things in this book sounded corny as they are introduced, but Robnoxious manages to turn them on their head and make this a really compelling story, with a surprise ending that leaves us with a glimmer of hope. Now if only there were more novels like this...
