The Fallout Project Cover
 The Fallout Project Canadian Flag

The Fallout Project is Québec City's fiercest entry in the hardcore realm in years. Their inspiring musical attack gathered momentum, rising from the ashes of hardcore band Peroxide, and eventually resulted in this eponymous album, released in September 2001. They play complex and layered screamo music, supported by intense and emotional screaming vocals. Compared to His Hero is Gone and Discharge. Radwan Moumneh of The Black Hand and The Fallout Project themselved produced this album.

"The Fallout Project has crafted 6 epics. This reminds me a lot of Catharsis, and that can't be bad. They have a way of creating really cool build ups that start small and build into a layered mass, then releasing them into faster parts or heavy brutal riffs to mix it. At the same time they string stuff together with subtle ideas and themes, I like it when bands do that. It shows a talent for for writing and arranging songs--a talent that many similar hardcore metal bands seem to be lacking. This CD is really good and comes recommended. Gaffer Cover
Gaffer - Ending Again Canadian Flag

This Waterloo band describe themselves as a "math-rock emo hardcore metal punk post-rock rock band".. Pretty loaded description and one would think they couldn't deliver, yet we find elements of all this in their music. Basically, they play metallic hardcore music that's technically accomplished, but at the same time doesn't get bogged down by the technicality, keeps a punk edge and simply rocks the house. They're really intense live too!

"Nothing gets students back into the swing of things like a healthy dose of math rock. Some may cringe at this thought, thinking that calculus and trig functions have made their way into the realm of rock 'n' roll. However these people need not worry as the boys in Gaffer will be more than willing to explain everything with one of their trademark insane live shows. Filled with the sounds of metal and loud guitar rock, the only equation you'll be trying to figure out is how three guys can make such amazing noise." --Shawn Despres for Chartattack.com
